Thank you, Durango, for electing me to three terms on the La Plata Electric Association board.
After serving nine years, I believe that is long enough, and I am happy with the great LPEA staff and the strategic direction of our cooperative.
I am also content to step down at this time because Ted Compton has stepped up to run for the seat I am vacating. Like me, Compton grew up on a ranch in the south part of La Plata County and went away to college to get an engineering degree. Like me, Compton came back to live in Durango and to contribute to our community.
Compton has great board experience from serving on the La Plata Open Space Conservancy and on the FastTrack boards. His broadband and fiber-to-the-premises knowledge from his board service at FastTrack are particularly important at this time. Compton has been putting in the time in energy and cooperative research and attending LPEA board and committee meetings.
Compton and I have had great discussions about "all things LPEA" and I look forward to staying in touch with him. He and I are aligned on all energy issues and I know he will make a great LPEA board member. Look for your LPEA mail-in ballot arriving around May 18 and please join me in voting for Ted Compton for the LPEA Board.
