Pagosa Springs get its IML due

Jaida Ross passed as an All-Intermountain League first team selection, while her Bayfield High School teammate Haley Clarke was named honorable mention earlier this week. BHS finished its season 7-13 overall.

Pagosa Springs fell eight points shy of the CHSAA Class 3A Girls Basketball State Championships.

The postseason accolades begin now.

Wes Lewis was named the All-Intermountain League Coach of the Year this week, and star senior Taylor Strohecker was named the All-IML Player of the Year.

Pagosa Springs, which lost the 3A championship 52-45 to Holy Family last weekend, placed five girls on the All-IML team.

Emily Bryant, Anissa Lucero, Payton Shahan and Strohecker were named to the All-IML first team, while Madison Lewis was named honorable mention.

Bayfield High School had two representatives on the All-IML team – senior Jaida Ross was named to the first team and senior Haley Clarke was named honorable mention.

BHS finished its season 7-13 overall and 1-7 in the IML after a loss to Centauri in the third-place game of the IML Tournament.

Centauri placed four girls on the All-IML team: Tori Fringer, Kendra Garcia and Marissa Quinlan were named first team, and Jasmine Gallegos was named honorable mention.

Nicole Broyles, Marissa Manzanares and Elisa Tolley of Alamosa were named All-IML first team, while Brooke Trujillo of Alamosa was named honorable mention.

Terrise Sanchez of Monte Vista was first team and Shelby Hindes of Monte Vista honorable mention.
