Deirdre Rosenburg, a resident of Pagosa Springs, released a book about her work with the American Pika, an animal she researches in the San Juan Mountains.
The small rodent-like mammals are struggling as outdoor recreation and climate change are transforming their habitats. They’ve become known as an Indicator Species for climate change and are of high scientific interest.
The book is called “The American Pika: Notes From the Field.” It is self-published, and has been picked up by Ingram for distribution.
