Paper disrespects families in tragedies

There are no words that can explain the disregard the Herald has for their community. When a death occurs, especially that of a child, it is not a front page news story. There are people, emotions and broken hearts behind those “stories.” A child who has committed an act of which nobody will ever understand is not a shareable post on Facebook or Snapchat.

The fact that a story would be written less than 24 hours after a mother and father have lost their child, and without their consent, should make us all question the motives and morals of The Durango Herald. Whoever makes the decision to completely disrespect and pummel families in these tragedies with no forewarning or respect for time, I hope you lay awake in bed tonight, if only for a second, contemplating what it would feel like to be on the other side of such a “story.” To have your heart stop beating, unsure if it will ever beat the same way again. To lose a piece of your soul, your baby, your brother or sister or cousin, and before you’re even sure what is happening, you can read about it along with a bunch of other strangers in black and white for the whole world too see.

The Herald doesn’t care because news is news!
