Parade of Homes starts today

Will Construction showing home in Pine River Ranch

If you want to see a Bayfield-area home this weekend for the Parade of Homes, there is one option.

Kurt Will of Will Construction just completed a 2,400-square-foot, four-bedroom, two-bath home in the Pine River Ranch subdivision.

This is the fourth year Will has shown a home in the annual tour. In 2008, his home won the award for best master suite.

"It's just a great opportunity for a lot of people to see what I do," Will said of the tour. "I don't know another way to get 1,000 or 2,000 people through a home I built."

The exterior of the home is finished with stucco, wood and stone to blend in with the surrounding river and mountains. There are also reclaimed beetle-kill soffits on the porches.

"It's pretty and it's cheap," Will said of the wood accents. "We suggested it, and our client liked it."

There are also wide-plank wood floors, a stone fireplace, beechwood cabinets, quartz counters, and a large bonus room the owner is planning to finish to house his model train collection.

Will said he usually gets some business from the home tour, but he also suggests that people thinking about a remodel or building their own home go look at the homes to see what's available locally.

"Go get some ideas," he recommends.

This is the first home he has built in Pine River Ranch, and there are still several vacant lots in the subdivision.

"Some houses are right on the river," he said. "It's a beautiful setting."

From Bayfield, head north on Country Road 501. Just past Forest Lakes, Pine River Ranch is on the left. The gate will be open this weekend for the tour.
