Tiffany Lee Parker on Thursday filed to run for a second term as La Plata County clerk and recorder.
Parker, a Republican, said she intends to compete in her party’s primary and the general election in 2014.
“I’m really excited, and I look forward to hopefully another four years,” she said.
Parker is responsible for running elections in the county. Her office also provides motor-vehicle registration, marriage licenses and document recording.
She was elected in 2010 to succeed Linda Daley, also a Republican. Parker served under Daley for five years. Before that, Parker worked for nine years in the Clerk and Recorder’s Office of Deschutes County, Ore.
Parker was the target in April of attack ads mailed to La Plata County voters. The ads criticized Parker for her support of a bill that would have allowed same-day voter registration and expanded voting by mail.
