Partial Junction Creek Road closure in April

Resurfacing project will shut part of road for two weeks

A portion of Junction Creek Road between the San Juan National Forest boundary at the end of County Road 204 and the campground will be closed for at least two weeks to allow for resurfacing.

From April 13 to April 30, the area will be closed to both motorized and nonmotorized use as the road surface will be “very sticky” until the project is complete.

“All trails and areas adjacent to the road will remain open,” the Forest Service announced Monday in a news release. “Although the Junction Creek trailhead below will remain open for those wishing to access the Colorado Trail, visitors should expect heavy construction traffic near the parking lot during the project period.”

The Forest Service also said the annual motorized closure on Junction Creek Road will remain in effect until May 1.
