Pay attention to things mattering in Durango

I have been here longer than most of the whiners and criers have, and I do not belong to the Durango Gun Club or the NRA, but I do know that once upon a time, anyone was able to use the facilities most any time until people started abusing them by shooting holes in the roof of the range on Florida Road, breaking into the snack bar and stealing things. You have to show responsibility if you want to use facilities. Now, no one seems to think about the good that comes from the gun club besides hunter safety courses, providing range officers for Boy Scouts, 4-H, turkey shoots and the shoots bringing national attention and marksmen from all over to stay in our fine motels and eat in our fine restaurants. I think it is about time to quit trying to remake Durango into another Aspen or Telluride. Try and take care of things truly making a difference – like the new Round-e-Round brought to you by the same Bridge-to-Nowhere folks.
