The Payroll Department recently selected Bear Smart Durango and Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Southwest to receive funding through its 10.4.2 grant.
Bear Smart Durango educates the public about black bears, reduces foods and waste that create “problem” bears, and decreases human-bear conflict in the community. Funds received from the grant will help Bear Smart expand and restructure the program under a new name, the Durango Regional Food Recovery Hub, and hire a project coordinator.
CASA of the Southwest serves children in foster care who have suffered abuse or neglect. Funds received from the grant will support program expansions for volunteers and the supervised visitation program.
