Most of us do not condone unprovoked military aggression – anywhere, anytime, against anyone. Especially not against those from other countries who are trying to live among us in peace.
Ideally, we could craft swords from plowshares and hand them to heartless political and military leaders, letting them fight out their ill-conceived conquests among themselves – à la Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton in 1804 – so that the rest of us would not have to be involved or become victims of their unrestrained ambitions.
We may live apart from one another, speak different languages, hold different customs and goals. But we are fellow human beings with similar hopes and dreams, part of the same universe, born the same way. Many believe we are part of a universal plan – divine or otherwise. Most of us embrace a belief system rooted in brotherly love that guides our responsibilities and actions toward one another.
Our objective should forever be that peace and brotherhood are universal standards, and that anything less is wholly abhorrent.
We will consider it our sacred duty to fight for freedom from misguided powerbrokers, for liberty and justice for all – shouting for peace from mountaintops and into valleys for as long as we shall live.
In hope, peace and love …
