Petty recall effort by uninformed trio

In their uninformed recall effort, Peters, Hawkins and Cugnini claim that Commissioner Gwen Lachelt has been unethical, maintains poor attendance and uses her political agenda to pursue environmental issues.

According to the Colorado Independent Ethics Commission, however, her actions have proven to be ethical. Her attendance records are higher than the La Plata Liberty Coalition would have you believe. And like every elected official, she has issues that she holds valuable, which many residents voted her in office for (twice).

Yet, this still isn’t enough for this trio. They would rather believe that oil/gas is an infinite resource and that “economics” are more important than that huge methane hotspot that blankets our airshed.

I would thus urge any followers of this ill-advised trio to do their research. And if that logic still doesn’t appeal, perhaps you should adhere to the same illogical rational of uninformed Trump supporters: “She won; get over it!”

Additionally, this group’s recent plea for district-by-district commissioner voting is nothing but a double standard — if we look at the Electoral College, one can easily see the hypocrisy. If I want commissioners to be voted by district, in order to fairly represent unique district values, but believe the president shouldn’t be held to the same equal standard because it doesn’t fit my political agenda, does that make my a hypocrite? It sure does.

As voters, it’s your responsibility to distinguish personal, petty vendettas from actual public concerns. Don’t fall prey to a group of close-minded extremists.
