Madison “Mustang Maddy” Shambaugh, an equine behaviorist, demonstrates her gentle touch in training wild horses and exotic equines, with Zena a 2-year-old Grant’s zebra and Zena’s best buddy, Terk, an American mustang, on Monday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. Shambaugh taught a horsemanship clinic in Durango, and she is traveling across the country to help raise awareness for American mustangs, 50,000 of them are waiting to be adopted.
