As spring runoff eases and flows slacken in the Animas River, Drew Nelson and his dog, Toby, enjoy a more mellow river ride on Tuesday. The Animas River peaked at 1,530 cubic feet per second on Tuesday, but flows may increase the next few days with the National Weather Service forecasting a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms in Durango on Wednesday, a 50 percent chance on Thursday and a 50 percent chance on Friday.
