The Friends of the Durango Public Library recently sponsored a photography competition in memory of Lela Boyer, “Through Lela’s Eyes,” and winners were announced during a reception Nov. 10 at the library.
Winners and awards included: Jeremiah Saint Ours, first place; Thomas Siggia, second place; Susie Gillatt, Lela Boyer Memorial award; Nancy Young, award of excellence; and Yvonne Lashmett, honorable mention.
During the competition, Howard Rachlin, a Durango photographer, was juror; Robert Boyer, Lela’s husband, selected the Lela Boyer Memorial award winner, and local photographer Kate O’Kami was curator.
Winners were awarded $150-$650 from Lela’s memorial fund.
Photographs from the competition will be on display at the library through November.
