Photo: Elk gather north of U.S. Highway 160

A small herd of elk nervously stands in a field Friday east of Durango and north of U.S. Highway 160. The National Weather Service expects a storm to move into the region Saturday. Precipitation in the Durango area will begin with rain Saturday afternoon and turn to snow after midnight. Accumulations of about an inch are possible. Showers are likely before 1 p.m. Sunday.
