Photo: Gas falls below $2 a gallon in Durango

Filling up for less than $2 a gallon
Bart Collins fills up his car Friday at the Everyday convenience store, 799 E. College Drive. The store led the pack in bringing gas below $2 a gallon last week. Speedway gas stations had prices as low as $1.99 per gallon in Durango and $2.01 in Cortez. Wade Litt, an economist at the University of Colorado, Boulder, said prices are lower because of the slow reopening of the economy and fewer numbers of tourists in town. Southwest Colorado has been behind the national curve since COVID-19 became an issue. Gasoline across most of the rest of the country is rising in price.
