Kathleen Shadell, a volunteer, hands a brochure to Janelle Maynes about how to make a donation to a SNAP emergency relief fund on Saturday at Albertsons grocery store. The The temporary fund is hosted by The Good Food Collective and the Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado. Every $1 donated enables providers to purchase $7 worth of food thanks to bulk purchasing and nonprofit status. More than 12,000 Southwest Colorado residents have not received their November benefits as a result of the government shutdown. The relief drive will be back at the same location Nov. 15.
