Construction is underway on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad tracks at College Drive near the depot rail yard. The tracks are being replaced with heavier-grade rail expected to last 50 years. One of two new flashing red signal lights is already in place and will replace personnel who previously walked into the street to stop traffic for trains entering and exiting the yard. The city of Durango is also using the road closure to relocate a storm drain and replace a stormwater pipe beneath the street. The road is expected to reopen Wednesday. (Jerry McBride/Durango Herald)
