Laura Alsum with Community Connections puts on the finishing touches Thursday to the more than 40 trees and wreaths decorated for the Festival of Trees in the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Grange Hall. This is the 15th year for the festival, which is a fundraiser for Community Connections, a nonprofit that supports children, families and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southwest Colorado. Each tree has a sponsor and some have donated the decorations and gifts to be given away by raffle. The festival will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is free, and there will be drinks, food, live entertainment and children’s games.
