Firefighters responded to a garage fire at 7:58 p.m. Tuesday on the grid in downtown Durango. The fire was spotted fairly early by a woman who went outside to look at the super moon and noticed smoke coming from the single-car garage, said Karola Hanks, fire marshal with Durango Fire Protection District. The homeowner used a fire extinguisher on the blaze, and fire crews finished the job, she said. The garage stored various sporting equipment, some of which was lost, but the garage remained intact.
