It was standing room only Monday during a dedication ceremony of the the newly renovated at the La Plata County Courthouse at 1060 East Second Ave. The facility houses the U.S. District Court, the 6th Judicial District, La Plata County Court and other public offices. The $5.4 million remodel of the first floor was partially funded by a $1.9 million energy impact assistance grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs and an additional $1.4 million from the U.S. General Services Administration, according to a La Plata County news release. The GSA will lease 6,655 square feet of courthouse space from La Plata County for 10 years for $1.7 million.
