Pictures from leaf-peepers show stunning autumn

In true Old West character, Luke Prince, Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad special events coordinator, photographed the fall colors Sept. 23-24 during the railroad’s fall photography event on the rails between Durango and Silverton.

Durango Herald readers submitted several of their beautiful fall colors photos from around the area. In some places, leaves have peaked. You still have time to see them in other places.

The best resource for where to go leaf-peeping is the San Juan National Forest. The agency’s fall color report tells you what areas this weekend will have optimal for viewing. See the report here.
