Pine River Library joins virtual book club for ‘The Secret Knowledge of Water’

Pine River Library will join libraries across the Four Corners in a virtual book club to discuss issues about water in the Southwest using Craig Childs’ book, “The Secret Knowledge of Water.” The author will participate in a live discussion at 8 p.m. Jan. 19 on Facebook Live.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, the book club is one part of a new effort called “We are Water,” a project that partners with rural libraries in the Four Corners to create family-oriented events and activities that inspire conversations about regional and community water topics.

Those interested may join the virtual conversation on Facebook at www.facebook.com/WeAreWaterSW, and continue participating in the conversation during the following two weeks on a Facebook discussion thread.

Childs, who grew up in the Southwest, writes about adventure, wilderness and science. In his book, he writes about water in the desert landscapes of the Southwest as he recounts his treks to find springs, waterholes and waterfalls in dry environments.

Pine River Library will have copies of the book for patrons to borrow for the duration of the book club.
