Pine River Library starts virtual fall programs for kids

Pine River Library will begin its fall virtual youth program schedule Sept. 1. Programs will run weekly and are aimed at kids ages 12 and younger.

“Little Readers,” for the library’s youngest patrons, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and will focus on reading picture books along with fun hands-on learning activities to build spatial awareness, develop coordination and recognize shapes.

The all-ages STEAM program will take place at 7 p.m. Thursdays and will focus on hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and math activities. Free material kits are available at the library to help kids complete the activities, along with weekly videos posted on the library’s virtual program webpage with activity instructions and more in-depth information about the science involved.

This fall, children will get a chance to be explorers, chemists and virtually “travel” to Mexico to make hot chocolate from scratch.

“Bedtime Stories” will take place at 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is aimed at upper elementary kids. The first book will be “Into The Wild” by Erin Hunter. Tune in for adventures, warrior cats and a fantasy world.

In addition to virtual programs, the library is also developing a “storyboard walk” in the Library Park, with a new book every month. Families will be able to stroll through the park and read a picture book along the way.
