Friends of the San Juans will hold a free “Know Before You Go” basic avalanche-awareness program from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 at Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, in Bayfield.
The workshop will feature Michael Ackerman of San Juan Mountain Guides. Participants will learn about avalanches and how to avoid being a victim of one.
