The losing streak reached three games for the Bayfield High School girls basketball team.
BHS lost 51-42 to Monte Vista on Friday in Monte Vista.
“Our defense wasn’t strong enough,” BHS assistant coach Cathy Simbeck said. “We made too many errors and got outhustled to the ball. We had 26 turnovers.”
Jaida Ross led the Wolverines with 14 points and six rebounds while Jessie Roukema scored 10 and grabbed six boards.
Andrea Zelinsky joined them in double figures with 10.
It was the Pirates’ first Intermountain League win of the season.
BHS (6-10, 1-4 IML) next will play Ignacio at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at IHS.
