Law enforcement is searching for a missing Arizona man who was last seen by his family in Durango in mid-August.

Derek Belone, 30, was last spotted by a family member at Manna soup kitchen and told family that he was headed to either Washington or California. Family members haven’t seen or heard from him since, according to Durango Police Department Cmdr. Deck Shaline.

Belone is from Window Rock, Arizona, located in the Navajo Nation.

On Monday, Colorado Bureau of Investigation released a Missing Indigenous Person Alert for Belone describing him as 5 feet 8 inches and 185 pounds and a member of the Navajo Nation.

Police were unable to confirm what Belone was wearing when family members last made contact with him in mid-August. CBI also could not provide a description of his clothing when he had been spotted on July 7 in the 600 block of Camino del Rio in Durango.

At this time, police do not suspect foul play was involved with Belone’s disappearance.

Anyone with information regarding Belone’s possible whereabouts should contact Durango Police Department at (970) 375-4700 or call 911.
