If you doubt the Republican Party is morphing into the Christian Hezbollah, the election of Alabama’s Roy Moore for U.S. Senate should dispel your uncertainty. The once-and-disgraced Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court has opined that gay Americans should be jailed, that Muslims be barred from public office and that the Bible should supplant the U.S. Constitution as the nation’s foundational document.
Immune to irony, Roy now declares God as his copilot as he grimly rams his theology into the vulnerable structure of our political system).
Sen. Cory Gardener, chairman of the Republican Senate Campaign Committee, has unreservedly welcomed Moore‘s victory saying, “We support him in keeping this seat in Republican hands.” It is obvious that nothing is more important to Republicans than the triumph of their party at all costs … not the conservative principles they once espoused, and certainly not the welfare of the American people.
Abandoning their intellectual conservative roots, today’s Republican Party has become the radicalized party of religion, nurturing their grievances to fan the flames of cultural divide. Our Gardner is complicit in the worst of his party’s maleficence. Gardner and Republicans misrepresented their intentions regarding health care, voting time and again to strip health insurance coverage from millions.
They are lying about their tax “reform” plans, which will enrich the already-wealthy while providing paltry tax relief for middle class Americans and increasing the deficit. Please don’t underestimate the existential crisis that confronts us. Politics and religion have become dangerously commingled.
Have the courage to find your voice, because silence is assent!
