Possible stabbing southwest of Durango considered ‘superficial’

Sheriff’s deputies investigating early Saturday incident between brothers
La Plata County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a stabbing on County Road 142 in the Rafter J Subdivision on Saturday morning.

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fight between two brothers, in which one possibly stabbed the other Saturday morning southwest of Durango.

The incident occurred about 9:45 a.m. at 450 County Road 142, according to scanner traffic.

Sheriff’s deputies made a forced entry into the house about 10:10 a.m. and found one of the brothers in the basement. He appeared to have a “superficial” injury, said Dan Bender, spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

Adam Vigil, 45, was arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held Saturday in the La Plata County jail on $3,000 bail.

The victim was identified as Aaron Vigil, 48.
