Potential LPEA contender endorses Compton instead

This year I will be supporting Ted Compton for the District 3 open seat on the La Plata Electric Association Board. Like every year, there is one open seat in each of the four voting districts, and if you live in the city of Durango (District 3), you will have the opportunity to vote for Compton for this important position to shape the future of our electricity system.

Upon meeting Compton , I appreciated that he takes a common-sense approach to evaluating options and looks at investment decisions with a long-term perspective, which is critical when evaluating power plant and infrastructure assets with a long life spans (30-plus years), not to mention 50-year supply contracts.

Although his engineering background and Durango heritage are important, I was most impressed by his pride for Southwest Colorado and his sincere desire to see our home at its best. With my corporate energy consulting and utility policy experience, I was originally planning to run for the same seat, but decided to wait for a future cycle after learning about Ted’s forward-thinking positions and dedication to the community. Please “Power Ahead” with Ted Compton.
