Power back to 300-plus homes south of Durango

Car hit utility pole, La Plata Electric Association says

Power has been resorted to more than 300 homes south of Durango after a vehicle hit a utility pole Monday afternoon, according to La Plata Electric Association.

The wet snow from the current storm is sporadically impacting electrical service throughout LPEA’s service territory, said LPEA spokeswoman Indiana Reed. LPEA crews are on call throughout the night to respond to all outages, she said.

Reed said in an advisory that power went out at 3:20 p.m. after a vehicle collided with a utility pole at 2521 County Road 172 on Florida Mesa.

The collision had cut power to 331 LPEA members, she said. Crews were able to complete temporary repairs to restore power shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday.

To report an outage, call LPEA’s Dispatch Center at 247-5786.
