A fault in an underground power line caused an outage Friday morning in the Bayfield and Pine River Valley areas, north Bayfield to Forest Lakes subdivision.
The outage occurred at 5:57 a.m., and power was restored to all but 49 customers by 8:45 a.m., according to a news release from La Plata Electric Association. Everyone had electricty as of 9:33 a.m.
The outage affected 1,083 customers.
The outage was the result of a fault involving an underground cable between the intersection of county roads 501 and 502 and Forest Lakes, which traverses under the Pine River. The exact cause was not immediately known.
As crews narrowed down the location, power was steadily restored to customers by switching them to alternate circuits.
