About 2,000 La Plata Electric Association customers were without power Thursday for about 30 minutes in parts of downtown Durango and northwest of town after a car hit a power pole.
The outage occurred at 6:14 p.m. and was restored at 6:44 p.m.
LPEA crews had to de-energize a line after the car hit the power pole, possibly on Junction Creek Road (County Road 204), said Hillary Knox, spokeswoman with LPEA.
“It was our decision to de-energize the line,” Knox said, “but we didn’t really have any other choice.”
