Cause of outage unknown
A power outage affected the Animas Valley on Saturday afternoon.
It is unknown what caused a power outage in the Animas Valley that affected nearly 1,000 La Plata Electric Association customers Saturday.
The outage affected residents mostly on the eastern side of U.S. Highway 550 north of Durango and started about 2:30 p.m., said Justin Talbot, manager of operations. A single customer remained without power at 4 p.m., he said.
LPEA employees patrolled the area, but could not find the cause of the outage, he said.
The outage could have been caused by melting snow falling on the lines or a bird disrupting LPEA equipment, he said.
