Lightning is suspected of knocking out power Thursday to 1,026 customers in the Grandview/Three Springs area, including Mercy Regional Medical Center.
The power went out at 1:16 p.m. and was restored about 1:50 p.m., said Indiana Reed, spokeswoman for La Plata Electric Association.
A lightning strike caused all circuits to lock open in the Grandview area, but fortunately, it didn’t damage the Grandview substation, she said.
“It didn’t do any damage, so we dodged a bullet,” she said.
Mercy spokesman David Bruzzese said power was restored to the hospital about 1:45 p.m. The hospital has back-up generators that provide power to critical areas, including patient care, he said.
