Powerhouse to host First Lego League kickoff

A barbecue to kick off the Four Corners First Lego League 2017 season will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Powerhouse Science Center, 1333 Camino del Rio.

The First Lego League is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics competition for children 9 to 14 years old to teach kids to think scientifically through creative, hands-on activities.

Teams of three to 10 kids, supervised by two or more adults, will program a Lego robot and accomplish missions according to a theme. This year’s theme is “hydrodynamics.”

Local teams will compete at the Four Corners tournament in December.
