Starting Jan. 18, The Powerhouse Science Center, 1333 Camino del Rio, will offer free admission to families where a parent or caregiver who works for the U.S. government has been furloughed or forced to work without pay because of the current partial government shutdown as the shutdown continues. To redeem this offer, families only need to show proof of employment for the U.S. government in the impacted departments.
Also, The Powerhouse will offer all U.S. government families furloughed or forced to work without pay a 50 percent discount to attend one of the center’s Holiday Camps or Sudden Science after school programs. Offer availability is limited as program space is limited. This will be offered on a first come, first served basis. To redeem this offer, a family only needs to show proof of employment for the U.S. government in the impacted departments.
The Powerhouse is offering the same families a free one-month family membership to the MakerLab. This would allow a family to use all of the equipment for free, including the laser cutter, in accordance to the rules of the MakerLab.
