The Gridiron Green Powers that be wreaked havoc on this year’s champions of new and old.
Barbara Powers of Ignacio, aka “barbarak,” stood alone atop the Week 9 heap as the only Greenie with 11 points.
We had four previous champions finish two shy of Powers: Week 1 champ James Wilson, Week 3 champ Frank Hawkins, Week 7 champ Dan Rose and Week 8 champ Clark Hudson – all finished among our distiguished 1st and Goal.
Week 5 champion Bill Corwin didn’t fare nearly as well as his fellow weekly winner brethren. Corwin scored a four, which placed him second from last and in our ignominious 4th and Long.
The Guru fared slightly better with an even .500 6-6 record in a tricky (unless you’re all powerful like Powers) Week 9 to run his overall total to 77-53 – that’s well worse than all our weekly winners and 17 worse than “commute29,” our intrepid Gridiron Green leader.

Detroit at Chicago – Maybe if Matthew Stafford suffers the same fate as Aaron Rodgers, othwewise ... Pick: Lions, 24-23. Line: Lions by 2½.
Philadelphia at Green Bay (KASA) – Without Rodgers, the Packers are collared with another loss at Lambeau. Pick: Eagles, 23-20. Line: Packers by 2½.
Jacksonville at Tennessee – Call it a comeback? Chris Johnson is all set for another 150-yard, two-score performance. Pick: Titans, 27-10. Line: Titans by 13.
Cincinnati at Baltimore (KCNC, KREZ) – The Ravens can’t block. The Ravens can’t run. Pick: Bengals, 17-16. Line: Bengals by 1½.
St. Louis at Indianapolis – One team is reeling. One team is rolling. Pick: Colts, 31-13. Line: Colts by 10.
Seattle at Atlanta – Without both of their starting tackles, the Seahawks gave the winless Buccaneers a shot last week in Seattle. This could be the perfect opportunity for the Falcons to flash their old form. Pick: Falcons, 20-14. Line: Seahawks by 6½.
Oakland at N.Y. Giants – After losing six in a row to start, the Giants win their third in a row. Pick: Giants, 30-17. Line: Giants by 7½.
Buffalo at Pittsburgh – With EJ Manuel’s return so, too, go the Bills’ chances. Pick: Bills, 20-17. Line: Steelers by 3½.
Carolina at San Francisco – Cam Newton. Colin Kaepernick. Pick: 49ers, 24-13. Line: 49ers by 6.
Denver at San Diego (KCNC, KREZ) – Off their bye, the Broncos will rally around Jack Del Rio for John Fox. Pick: Broncos, 30-24. Line: Broncos by 7.
Houston at Arizona – Cardinals, at home. Pick: Cardinals, 20-16. Line: Cardinals by 2½.
Dallas at New Orleans (KOBF, KUSA) – Defense optional. Should be fun. Pick: Saints, 37-28. Line: Saints by 7.
