The Ignacio High School girls soccer team scored its second goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough for the Bobcats, who fell to Del Norte (8-4, 3-2 2A Region 4) on senior day Thursday at IHS.
Andrea Loya, a senior for the Bobcats, scored Ignacio’s goal in the 72nd minute. The goal came on a free kick, which was awarded after a Del Norte handball. Loya took the free kick from just beyond the 18-yard box, bent the ball around Del Norte’s wall and into the upper-right corner of the goal.
Del Norte won 8-1.
Ignacio’s only other goal of the season came on March 23 in an 11-1 loss to Telluride.
Del Norte held a 7-0 lead at halftime, and got its eighth goal about seven minutes into the second half.
Del Norte got three goals from Kendra Parra, Chloe McComas scored twice, and Syana Colville, Emily Gallegos and Sophia McConnell had one goal each.
Ignacio (0-13, 0-9 2A Region 4) will be off until next Thursday when the Bobcats travel to Cortez to face the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers (2-11) in a non-league game.
