The Ignacio High School boys basketball team returned to winning ways behind four 3-pointers from Bryce Finn and scored 16 points as Ignacio held on 57-46 against a stingy Ridgway team Friday night in Ridgway.
The Bobcats (5-7, 3-2 2A/1A San Juan Basin League) got plenty of transition baskets and outscored the Demons (5-5, 3-1 SJBL) 31-23 in the second half.
“We were working on our transition and that’s really starting to come around,” said IHS head coach Chris Valdez. “It’s always really nice when you can get plenty of points without really having to run your offense.
The Bobcats also had two other players in double-digits as Brady McCaw scored 15 and Gabe Tuscon had 10, as well.
Tyler Kraft scored 13 points for Ridgway.
“I thought we had several kids step up tonight, and Ocean (Hunter) had five or six assists, almost all of them were to Bryce,” Valdez said. “It was unselfish play and we’re starting to come around, and I think we will see it through.”
Ignacio will square off against Telluride at 4 p.m. Saturday at Telluride High School.

Girls BasketballThe Ignacio High School girls basketball team also picked up a road win in convincing fashion Friday with a 49-21 win over Ridgway.
Ignacio (7-4), 6-0 SJBL) was led by captain Mikayla Howell, who scored 13 points, while Avaleena Nanaeto chipped in eight points in the win.
“(I thought) we had a less than stellar game, but we got the job done,” said IHS head coach Justa Whitt. “A little slow to start; we definitely have to start waking up to start the game, (and) not wait till the second quarter. There could be lots of excuses, but bottom line is we must come out ready to play from the opening tip-off, traveling or not.”
The Bobcats will look to extend their league unbeaten streak as they will take on Telluride at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Telluride High School.
