Prepare for takeoff at FLC event

Think you know how to make a paper airplane fly far? Come to Fort Lewis College on Wednesday night.

Think you know how to make a paper airplane? Here’s your chance to give your talents a lift.

Red Bull Paper Wings will host a national “qualiflyer” at Fort Lewis College. Planes will be judged on how far they go, how long they stay up in the air and the cool aerial tricks they perform.

The event will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Student Life Center. Official competitions are held indoors to take away wind effects.

“See if you have what it takes to represent the USA at the Global Finals at Hangar-7 in Salzburg, Austria,” Red Bull says on its website promoting the May 8-9 event.

The FLC event is one of dozens being held at college campuses around the country and other locations around the world.

You may think you already know everything there is to know about paper airplanes, but for tips – including making ailerons! – it’s all on Red Bull’s Paper Wings website.
