A presentation on a new federal program to encourage investment in distressed areas will be offered from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
The presentation will explain how Opportunity Zones and Opportunity Funds work through capital gains tax deferrals, deductions and exclusions. Presenters will show what businesses and projects might be eligible and the impacts to a community as well as where the six Opportunity Zones in Southwest Colorado are located.
Presenters include Jana Persky from the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, Shawn Bertini from Four Points Funding as well as legal information from Snell & Wilmer L.L.P.
