I was appalled at the Herald’s recommendation that a Republican be put in place to replace Clyde Church (Herald, June 27). Some of the reasons leaned toward thoughtful, but ignore the immediate emergency in this country.
Any wiggle-room for Republicans is gone. The only respectable position is to leave the party of authoritarianism, of covering up the orange tyrant’s constant lying, of never answering questions, just attacking the questioner. It’s time to abandon the party of racist, hateful, lying, book banning, free speech suppression and infrastructure-destroying idiots.
Pretending that we live in near normal political times is insulting. Citizens are being grabbed off the street and jailed with no due process. Court orders, even the Supreme Court’s directions, are being ignored by the GOP cult in Washington.
Every day Republicans act in unconstitutional impulses and ignore all rules of law. This is the time to only vote for Democrats, simply to get these arrogant ignorant white guys out of power. We can look to balance, integrate and compromise once they’ve been soundly defeated. Otherwise we will no longer have the country we love, it’ll be Trumpland-Gilead.
