Voters who wish to cast a vote in the Republican or Democratic primaries have until 7 p.m. Tuesday to get their ballots in.
There are three contested races on the GOP ballot, and one on the Democratic Party ballot. Republicans will choose a candidate from a field of five to run against Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet in November, as well decide on the GOP candidate for the 3rd Congressional District representative and the state board of education. Democrats will choose from two candidates running for District Attorney for the 6th Judicial District.
It’s too late to mail a ballot, but there are 24-hour drop-off boxes and voting centers.
The round-the-clock drop-off locations are at Bayfield Town Hall at 1199 Bayfield Parkway, the La Plata County Administration Building at 1101 East Second Ave., and the clerk and recorder’s office at 98 Everett St., Suite C, in Bodo Industrial Park.
Ballots can be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day at Ignacio Town Hall, 540 Goddard Ave.
Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Voters can cast their ballots in person 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the clerk and recorder’s office, Bayfield location or at the La Plata County Fairgrounds at 2500 Main Ave. Unaffiliated voters who wish to affiliate with a party to vote in Tuesday’s primary must do so at a voting center. It is too late for voters who are affiliated with a party to switch parties for this election.
