Prop 112 will destroy La Plata County

Thank you to the communities and organizations across Southwestern Colorado that have stood up to oppose Proposition 112, which would effectively ban natural gas and oil development in our state.

It would have a tremendously negative impact on jobs and Colorado’s economy. If it were to pass, 99 percent of La Plata County’s non-federal land would be off limits to new natural gas and oil production, driving industry out.

The commissioners of La Plata County are acutely aware that Proposition 112 would spell economic doom, which is why they unanimously voted to oppose it.

Of the 43,000 jobs that would be lost in the first year following passage, 77 percent would come from outside the natural gas and oil industry. Proposition 112 is an equal-opportunity job killer.
