Public comment period open on 6th Judicial District judge applicants

Residents have until Thursday to submit comments to nominating committee

A public comment period has opened for the 6th Judicial District Nominating Commission in charge of choosing an applicant to fill the vacancy made by 6th Judicial District Judge William Herringer, whose resignation was announced for March 9.

Ten candidates have applied to fill the vacancy, according to a news release from the Colorado Judicial Department. Until 4 p.m. Thursday, public comments about the qualifications of any of the applicants can be directed to any member of the nominating commission.

Public comments to commission members must also be copied to the ex officio chair, Justice Carlos A. Samour Jr., at 2 E. 14th Ave., Denver, CO 80203, or at judicial.vacancies@judicial.state.co.us.

The 6th Judicial District Nominating Commission is scheduled to consider candidates in a virtual meeting on Monday.
