Lovers of pumpkins and the comic strip “Peanuts” take note: The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad begins service to The Great Pumpkin Patch on Saturday.
Passengers will be greeted by Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy upon arrival at the “most sincere pumpkin patch.” The dates are Saturday, Sunday, Oct. 19 and Oct. 20. The train will make 2½-hour round trips, leaving at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Several activities will be offered, including hay rides, a hay-bale maze and a costume contest. Halloween costumes are encouraged. (Someone ought to dress up as Linus, right?) Also, each child can select a “perfect pumpkin” to take home.
Tickets are $24-$34 for children and $32-$42 for adults. For more information and reservations, call 247-2733, (888) 872-4607 or visit www.durangotrain.com.
