Purgatory to hold last Locals Day of season

Local non-profits receive proceeds from tickets, demos
Purgatory is slated to close April 3, with this Sunday being the final Local Benefit Day with discounted tickets.

Sunday, March 20 is Purgatory's final Locals Benefit Day of the season. Purgatory hosts four Locals Days each season with a portion of lift ticket sales benefitting local nonprofit organizations. This season's beneficiaries are the Be F.R.A.N.K. Foundation in Bayfield, Heart Safe La Plata, La Plata Family Centers Coalition, and Trails 2000.

Discounted lift tickets are available on Sunday with a coupon for $45 adults (18-64); $32 teens (ages 13-17) and seniors (65-79); and $25 kids (6-12 years) and super seniors 80+; kids 5 and under are free.

A Locals Day coupon must be presented on a smartphone or in paper form at the ticket window to receive the discount. Coupons are available on Purgatory's website. Locals Day ticket purchasers can save 25 percent at the Bear's Den licensed childcare center on Sunday with a Locals Day Lift Ticket. Reservations are required by calling 385-2144.

In addition to offering discounted lift tickets, Purgatory will host Demo Days, in partnership with Never Summer, Fischer Skis and seven local shops: Pine Needle Mountaineering, Backcountry Experience, Boarding Haus, Cliffside Ski & Sport, 2nd Avenue Sports, Ski Barn, and Expert Edge. For $10, guests will get unlimited demos of the latest equipment for the day, and all of the proceeds go directly to the four nonprofit partners.
