As the unhoused population has exited Purple Cliffs, it is apparent that people there have no respect for our planet. I have attended meetings the past few years in regard to our unhoused situation. There have been several times that spokespersons and unhoused persons have spoken about dignity and respect for those persons less fortunate. They have talked about how they want to be treated fairly and with respect.
I would ask the people who left our community property in the Purple Cliffs area in the condition that they have to honestly search their hearts as to whether they deserve any respect at all.
Almost everyone is compassionate about the unhoused’s plight. Some more than others. As someone who is more on the compassionate side, I felt sickened with how Purple Cliffs was treated and the condition in which it was left.
With the lack of respect from the unhoused in the treatment of our community property, it only reinforces the less compassionate and further alienates them. It is a very complicated issue that is happening everywhere in the country and needs to be dealt with in order to help those who truly need and want the help.
However, in order for communities to embrace the issue with dignity and respect, the unhoused population needs to change its ways in how they respect our planet and the communities in which they reside. Help us help you, and show some respect.
