Now that we have a horrible river disaster we have kind of put our previous pet peeve on the back page or are ignoring it altogether, for that matter. That is the hoard of the homeless or whatever label we use that applies to their particular malady. I have thought of a solution for both problems: Why not collect all the people that seem to have little to do and that want things for nothing and pay them to clean the river. The EPA seems to be interested in making this right with all us residents and we could use the help. The EPA could train them, we could house and feed them with all the hotel rooms that are empty as a result of the disaster. Then they could follow the river to Lake Powell and all have new careers and new places to fulfill their dreams other than Durango and the EPA could pay us all back and give the homeless a sense of accomplishment.
